The brass tablet is erected as a memorial of services rendered to the parish to Samuel and George Clift as church wardens. Both men died in 1912.
The Bishop of Newcastle dedicated at St Peter`s Church East Maitland, on Wednesday evening, a well-executed tablet to the memory of the late Messrs Samuel and George Clift. The many services rendered to the parish by administrative offices, gifts of money and embellishments of costly nature, were thus made the subject of public recognition, by a few of their friends. The memorial was executed by J. Techerne of Sydney, and consist of ornamental lettering engraved on brass, set on a wooden support, and is of a bold and effective design.
