The plaque was erected in memory of Fay Norma Bataille (1926 - 1995) who served as Parish Secretary, Parish Councillor, Superintendent of the Sunday School and Scripture teacher at the church.
Fay was also a school teacher and leader of the Guides Movement on the island. Her other interests included the Agricultural and Horticultural Society, and the local Sunshine Club, a charitable organization. She was appointed an M.B.E. in 1968, and received the Medal of the Order of Australia in 1986.

and a stalwart of the Guiding Movement as Commissioner and Leader.
