Venerable Archdeacon P. J. SlatteryPrint Page
The Eastern Cemetery Chapel was erected to commemorate the Venerable Archdeacon P. J. Slattery who died in 1903.
On Sunday afternoon the Very Rev. Archdeacon P. J. Slattery, who for the last 30 years had been associated with St. Mary's Church, Geelong, died suddenly, and the Catholic Church in Victoria lost a notable figure. Deceased was 73 years of age, and had been 42 years in the sister State. He was known far and wide and his people loved him with singular affection. Everyone who met him carried away deep impressions of his fearlessness, his devotion to duty, his saintliness and his tenderness towards all in trouble.
