In affectionate remembrance of GEORGE GRICE
Lieutenant in the Second Scottish Rifles, who fell mortally wounded on Christmas Day, 1901 in the fight at Tweefontein, South Africa.
Born in London on 9th January, 1879.
Brought up and educated in Victoria.
A student of this college 1896-1897.
He joined the Imperial Army in 1898.
Served with distinction in the South African War
Proving himself a brave and able officer and was honourably mentioned in despatches by Lord Roberts.
No fitter place could his fellow students choose
For a memorial of their friend
Than this sacred spot
Within the College which he has left the richer for the example of his gallantry and worth.
