A plaque commemorates the service and sacrifice of Captain Albert Johnson who was killed in the sinking of the Hospital Ship "Centaur" in 1943 during World War Two.  The plaque states that a Red Memorial Cross was unveiled as a tribute by fellow members in the choir.
