The plaque commemorates a former Poowong East Primary School student, Flight Sergeant Maurice Edward Trimnell who was killed during World War Two.
He was serving with 18 Squadron Royal Australian Air Force when his Mitchell aircraft N5-169 was lost at Tanimbar Island in the Arafura Sea on 24 August 1944.
