The plaque commemorates a former Poowong East Primary School student, Flight Lieutenant Clement Cambell Mayberry who was killed during World War Two.
He was serving with 204 Squadron Royal Air Force when Sunderland DV974 crashed in Gambia after overshooting the landing area during a night landing on 1 October 1943.
