The plaque commemorates Leading Stoker John Burgess who was killed when H.M.A.S.Perth was sunk in the Sunda Strait in March 1942 during World War Two.
Note: As at 15-April-2016 the plaque is currently missing and its whereabouts are unknown. Information provided by Volunteer Research Officer Sandra Brown.
