Corporal Walter Clement BriggsPrint Page
An obelisk commemorates Corporal Walter Clement Briggs who was killed in action in the South African (Boer) War.
The stone in memory of the late Corporal W. C. Briggs, who was killed while on active service in South Africa, has been erected in front of Mr. Thomas' store on the State school reserve. The fence around it is not completed yet. Mr. Briggs, senr., is doing all the work himself, and has made a real good job of it. It will look very well when completed. I think it is the intention of the committee to have an unveiling later on.— "Courier."
