The tree commemorates Squadron Sergeant Major George Elliott who was a member of the 6th Light Horse Regiment who served on Gallipoli in Turkey in World War One.

The tree also commemorates those who were involved in the Battle of Lone Pine at Gallipoli.

This pine tree when a seedling was brought back to Australia from Lone Pine by George Elliott, on his visit during the Golden Jubilee of the ANZAC. Landing in April, 1965.

Planted on ANZAC Day 1967 by John Elliott and dedicated by the Rev. C. C. MacPherson

ANZAC Grove, Gundagai.   April 25th, 1967.
