The marble tablets commemorate Corporal Charles C. Cruikshank and Corporal John A. McGregor who died of illness while prisoners of war during World War Two.
The Warialda Standard on 24 May 1943 reported Mr and Mrs J. A. McGregor had received news their son John was a prisoner of war in a Malayan camp. Later that year, the Warialda Standard on 6 December 1943 reported Mrs M. Stevenson had received information her nephew, Charles Cruickshank was a prisoner of war in Java.
