The plaque commemorates Captain Walter A. Leslie who was killed in action in May 1915 at Gallipoli during World War One.
CAPTAIN LESLIE.
Captain Walter Aland Leslie, 7th Battalion, 3rd Field Artillery Brigade Queensland, killed in action, was the fourth son of Mr. and Mrs. A. S. Leslie, of Toowong, Brisbane. Previous to the outbreak of the war he held a commission in the military forces, and along with his brother Arthur (who is at the Dardanelles), was among the first to offer his services. Captain Leslie was an old Brisbane Grammar School boy, and was a brother of Norman Leslie the second Queensland Rhodes Scholar.
