Death of a Glen Innes Soldier.
The news of the death of Private James Jacobs, of the 3rd Mounted Infantry, has been confirmed. The sad event occurred at Kroonstad on August 16th, and was caused through measles. The deceased soldier hailed from Dundee, and is the first member of K. Company to find a grave on the veldt of South Africa.  We offer our sincere sympathy to the bereaved parents and to the regiment to which he was attached prior to enlisting for service under the Union Jack.
