The seat commemorates Sergeant Donald Dickson who was killed in action on the 8th August 1918 during World War One.
MEMORIAL SERVICE. "The Fire shall ever be burning upon the Altar," was the address chosen by Rev. J. C. McDiarmid, at a special Service of the United Methodist and Presbyterian Churches at Mareeba on Tuesday evening last, when the dedication of new pews and the unveiling of the memorial seat in memory of the late Sergeant Donald Dickson, D.C.M., M.M., who was killed in action on August 8, 1918, and of the memorial font in memory of Ruby A. Love, a former Sabbath School teacher, was held.
