The grave headstone, was erected by the Captain of his Company, in memory of Private Michael Mansfield of the 11th Regiment of Infantry who died in 1847 after a fall from a horse.

Front Inscription

     Beneath this stone are 
           deposited 
       the remains of 
MICHAEL MANSFIELD
Pt. in H.M. XIth Regt of Infantry, 
who died Sep 13th 1847, from 
the effects of a fall from a 
Horse the 22 year of his age.

This stone was erected by 
Wm H. Thornton Cap of his 
Company, as a small mark 
of his regret for a good and
promising young Soldier.
