The pine tree commemorates Trooper Stephen Arbuthnot, a member of the 8th Light Horse Regiment who was killed in action at the Charge at the Nek at Gallipoli in August 1915 during World War One.

Front Inscription

This tree, Pinus halepensis, has been propagated from the original Lone Pine of Gallipoli.

It memorialises Trooper Stephen Arbuthnot, No. 876, 8th Light Horse Regiment, native of Bonnie Doon.

He landed at Gallipoli on 5th August 1915 and was killed two days later during a suicidal charge at The Neck, along with some 465 members of his unit.

Placed by the Redfern family, 2009.
