The memorial over the grave, erected by the Returned Soldiers Association, commemorates Corporal Edwin Hart who died in 1916. 
 
The Dean of Sydney (Colonel-chaplain Talbot) unveiled a memorial obelisk at the Waverley Cemetery on Sunday afternoon, to Corporal Edwin Hart, lately of the Divisional Ammunition Column, who left Australia in September, 1914, for the front, returned on December 6 of last year, and died on March 10. The memorial was erected by the Returned Soldiers' Association. The late Corporal Hart, who was a native of Kakaia, N.Z., was thirty-three years of age. His father and mother came over from New Zealand for the purpose of being present at the ceremony.
