Private IanThomson was an apprentice fitter and turner when called up for National Service on February 1, 1967. The rifleman private with 3rd Battlaion, The Royal australian Regiment (3 RAR) was killed by an enemy rocket propelled grenade in a Phuoc Tuy rubber plantation on October 19, 1968.
