The marble plaque commemorates Private R. Poole who died of wounds, and Lance Corporal Robinson who was killed in action in World War One. The plaque was unveiled at the opening of the Cooma Methodist Memorial Church in 1926.
The foundation stone for the new memorial church was laid on 24 March 1926 by Mrs C. J. Poole, with the completed building opened in a special ceremony on 12 September 1926. At the ceremony in 1926, Padre Gault unveiled a Swedish pearl granite honour roll tablet in memory of Private Poole and Lance-Corporal Robinson and dedicated six memorial windows in memory of local pioneers.
