The brass tablet commemorates Captain W. J. S. Rundle who died of wounds received in action at Karre Bosch, Cape Colony during the South African (Boer) War.
There was a large congregation at St John`s Church, Darlinghurst, yesterday morning, when a " memorial tablet " was unveiled to the memory of the late Captain W. J. S. Rundle, 6th Dragoon Guards (late Adjutant of Brabants Horse). The ceremony was performed by the Bishop of Gippsland. The memorial tablet which was erected on the northern wall of the church, is of burnished brass. The deceased officer's sword was laid on the tablet.
