The headstone at the grave commemorates Herbert F Nilsson who died in 1938 at the age of 53. The headstone was erected by the Newcastle Coaltrimmers Branch.

NILSSON.-Members of the above are requested to attend the funeral of their late ComradeHERBERT FRANCIS NILSSON, to move from the residence of the niece, Mrs J. MATCHETT, 91 Lott-street, Carrington, this afternoon, at 2.25 o`clock for Church of England, Sandgate.

Note: Coal trimmers were the waterside workers who loaded coal as cargo and into bunkers on steam ships. The union became the Newcastle Coal Trimmers Branch of the Waterside Workers' Federation in 1921.
