Formally named in a naming ceremony by Ms Linda Burney MP first female Aboriginal Member of the NSW Parliament on 21 July 2006.

This bridge is named in memory of the late Marjorie Phyllis Walford who was a dedicated and hard working female of the local Aborginal community
