Dick Ward Drive commemorates Mr Justice Ward, QC who was a Member of the Legislative Council for the Northern Territory and the first interim Aboriginal Land Commissioner. Richard Ward served as a Justice of the Supreme Court of the Northern Territory from 1974 to 1977.

Dick Ward Drive.
Officially opened by the Hon. Roger Steele, M.L.A. Member for Ludmilla and Mr. Bobby Secretary Senior Member of the Larrakia Tribe on 22 July 1980.
Named in honour of the late Mr. Justice Ward. Q.C., who, as a Member of the Legislative Council for the Northern Territory between 1947 and 1974, and as the first interim Aboriginal Land Commissioner, devoted his life to the advancement of the Northern Territory and its people.
