The W.B.Gayfer Reserve was established in the recreation ground as a tribute to Walter Bunning Gayfer for his work for the people of Invergordon and district as a senior officer of the Rural Finance Commission.
Note:
The Rural Finance and Settlement Commission (Amendment) Act 1977 came into effect on 1st January, 1978. The legislation changed the name of the Commission from the Rural Finance and Settlement Commission to the Rural Finance Commission. The Act was repealed on the 1st July, 1988 and the Rural Finance Corporation of Victoria succeeded the Rural Finance Commission on that day.
