The plaque, over the grave site was erected in memory of Constable 1st Class Ernest William Chase who served as a police officer from 1895 until his death in 1903. The plaque is located behind the grave of Constable Patrick Cahill.
The Friends of the Queensland Police Museum (FQPM) funded the production of brass plaques for four Queensland Police officers buried in the Longreach Cemetery for whom no gravestones existed.
