Reginald Thomas SUTHERLAND (aged 34 yaers)

Tragically killed on duty in a motor vehicle accident
on the 20th of May, 1954,
on the Darlington Point - Griffith Road, Griffith.
Whilst being conveyed in a police vehicle driven by Constable 1/C Howell, a truck travelling in the opposite direction, crossed to the incorrect side of the road and collided with the police vehicle, which Constable Sutherland was a passenger in. Constable Sutherland suffered fatal injuries as a result of the collision. The driver of the truck was later charged with manslaughter.
This plaque was unveiled at the Wagga Wagga Police Station
on 29th September, 2017,
being National Police Remembrance Day,
by the children of the late Constable Sutherland,
Lynette, Paul and Christine.(wife Norma SUTHERLAND, died 2013)
