The plaque commemorates Captain R. R. Fischer for his service with the Nhill fire brigade. He succeeded Captain George Lewis as captain in 1920.
On behalf of the officers and men of the Nhill Fire Brigade, Mr W Childs S(secretary) presented Captain R R Fischer with an inscribed gold watch in recognition of his fine services to the brigade. Captain Fischer has served for 40 years; has been captain for 17 years and has the unique record of not having missed the weekly roll call for 30 years.
