Percival Inchbold Print Page
The gates at the entrance to the church, erected by family and friends, commemorate Percival Inchbold (1884 - 1953), for his service to the church and State.
A former soldier settler after World War One, Percival was a Yarrawonga shire councillor from 1921 to 1933, and then President of the Yarrawonga Council in 1922 and 1923-23. He was a Wangaratta Borough Councillor from 1927 to 1936, and Wangaratta Borough Mayor from 1933 to 1934. After this, he did not seek to re-elect and retired in August 1936.
From 1935 to 1953, Percival was the Member of the Legislative Council (M.L.C.) for North Eastern Province and from 1950 to 1952, he served as the Minister for Education.
