Bill Faint & Rob WhelanPrint Page
Clermont's showground pavilion has been named after two councillors, Bill Faint and Rob Whelan, who were instrumental in establishing the showgrounds, saleyards and workshop complex in the 1980s. The plaque is a reminder of their contribution to the Clermont community and they have been recognised for their vision and tenacity by naming the two pavilions in their honour.
In the early 1980s, councillors Faint and Whelan had a vision to create a single, large facility to combine the showgrounds, saleyard and workshop complex. Despite concerns the venture was too ambitious, with community support, substantial investment and some astute project managers, the two men had made it happen.
