Par of Toowoomba`s Escarpment

J. E. Duggan Park is named in honour of John Edmund "Jack" Duggan AO (1910 - 1993).

Mr Duggan was elected to Toowoomba City Council following his substantial public service as a member of the Queensland State Parliament and his active army duty during World War II, including the Battle of Milne Bay, Papua and New Guinea.

He served as Deputy Mayor from 1970 to 1981 under the leadership of Nellie Elizabeth (Nell) Robinson OBE, Queensland`s first female mayor, and was her successor from 27 August 1891 to 27 March 1982.
