Jock Comini Print Page
A memorial picnic area commemorates Jock Comini O.A.M.
The Jock Comini reserve rest area was opened in 1994 and was named in honour of Mr Jock Comini and his work as a founding and fourteen year member of the Calder Highway Improvement Committee, as a long-time member of the Harcourt CFA, the North West regional ambulance service, and the Loddon Campaspe Regional Planning Authority. At the time of the reserve’s opening 5000 new trees were planted and granite boulders placed at the site were from the Comini family orchard.
Mr Comini served 17 years as a Maldon councillor from 1971 to 1988, including six terms as Shire President.
In 2013, there were calls for the reserve to be upgraded due to its dilapdiated state and to respect Mr Comini's memory.
