The marble tablet was erected in memory of Alured Tasker Faunce, a senior magistrate in the Queanbeyan District, who collapsed and died during a cricket match in 1856.

Queanbeyan And Its Vicinity,
As A Mark Of The Respect And Esteem In Which He Was Held
In The Community
Amongst Whom He So Long Resided.
