The memorial plaque and chilli garden commemorates Dr Alex Arellano (1946-2002) who was the one of the first lecturers at the School of Natural and Complimentary Medicine at Southern Cross University.
Dr Arellano was from Chile and was studying chillies. The section of the garden was replanted with chillies when the memorial was installed.
