Dear Monument Australia visitors, we are a self-funded, non-profit organisation, dedicated to recording monuments throughout Australia. Over time the costs of maintaining this website have risen substantially (in fact they are probably larger than those of many companies who exist for profit). In the past we have borne all the costs associated with maintaining the website but we are now having difficulties in paying the monthly expenses.
If Monument Australia is useful to you, please make a donation to keep this historical and educational resource available. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

The gardens were dedicated by the Cemetery Board in recognition of George McQuoid.
Following the death of his wife in 1986, Mr George McQuoid spent considerable time and effort tending the family grave where she was buried. Over many years, with approval of the Board, Mr McQuoid purchased trees and shrubs at his own expense, and worked with cemetery employees to plant and maintain shrub gardens and trees. His efforts greatly improved the appearance of the area and led to the upgrading of the nearby roadway. The Board recognised Mr McQuoid’s forethought and generosity with a small ceremony held in March 1992 to dedicate the “McQuoid Gardens” in his honour.
