Fred`s Stick Insect Island stands in memory of our oldest volunteer - Fred Clark, who always stood here and shared his knowlwedge with visitors about stick insects and the Butterfly House
Fred was loved by all, we called him our Patron Saint (we`re not sure about the `Saint` part).
Fred helped physically and financially support the construction and operation of the Butterfly House. Fred grew up in foster care and managed to join the Army at age 15. The army was his life and family.
Fred passed away at age 83 on the 30th October 2020. We morn his passing and greatly miss his dry wit, generous spirit and wonderful friendship.
