The plaque commemorates Margaret Kavanagh who was a supporter of the Mooroopna District Hospital. The plaque was presented at the annual meeting of the Mooroopna Hospital Board as well as other gifts in her memory in 1924.
She organised a "pillow campaign" in 1920 which saw the hospital receive 250 pillows.
It is with deep regret that your committee records the death of Mr. E. McMaster Smith, of Lancaster, who was a member of the committee of management from 1898 to 1913, and a former president, and who up to the time of his death had been an energetic worker for the hospital. Your committee also with regret records the death of Mrs. Margaret Kavanagh, of Mooroopna, who since its inception was a most enthusiastic worker for the hospital, and of which her late husband had been one of the foundation members. The claims of the sick met with an ever ready response and to the end she was continually doing some kindly act for some one in the institution.
