The marble plaque commemorates Andrew Brown who was an elder of the church for 40 years.  He was also a Justice of the Peace, a councillor of St Andrew`s College at Sydney University, and he erected the Cooerwull Public School.

The tablet was originally unveiled in the Bowenfels Presbyterian Church in 1895. 

A Lithgow wire (Wed.) says : — The funeral of Mr. Andrew Brown this afternoon was largely attended by many representatives of local people and friends from Sydney and other districts. Among those present were Mr. J. T. Walker, Captain Smith, the Rev Principal Kinross, Mr. Bradley, Dr. Geekie, and Revs. M'Kenzie and Anson Smith.   The last named read the burial service.   Principal Kinross delivered a brief address in eulogy of the deceased. The pupils of Cooerwull Academy and children from the neighboring public schools formed part of the procession.

He was a Justice of the Peace
A councillor of St Andrew`s College, Sydney University and for forty years an Elder of this church

He always took the deepest interest in religious and educational matters

He was a generous supporter of the church of his fathers and was foremost amongst the few who began the services in this place of worship

He erected the Cooerwull Public School and was the founder of the Cooerwull Academy

He was universally esteemed for his piety charity and integrity

"The memory of the just is blessed."
