W. J. DinningPrint Page
The plaque commemorates W. J. Dinning, a well known member of the community and a preacher in the former Methodist Church. Mr Dinning died in 1936 and the lighting in the church was installed in his memory.
Mr. Dinning, who had been suffering from a rare and painful malady for many months, died in Tatiara Memorial Hospital on Tuesday last, January 21, at the age of 62 years. He was one of the best-known and most highly-respected residents of the district, and was a son of the late Mr.and Mrs J. W. Dinning. He was born at Padthaway and, with the exception of short periods, spent of his life in the Tatiara. For many years he carried on a blacksmithing business at Mundalla (sic). He was esteemed as a business man and townsman and made many friends. He was also a devoted member of the Methodist Church, in which he had occupied many important offices, including that of local preacher. Mr. Dinning had been in indifferent health for some time, and during the last three months his strength gradually declined. He was a man of most industrious habits, of a cheerful disposition and great hospitality.
