The plaque commemorates Arthur Lawley (1860 - 1932), colonial administrator and former Governor of Western Australia, who was the first Chairman of the Child Emigration Society, and worked with Kingsley Fairbridge, in supporting the Fairbridge Farm School.

He was first Chairman of the Child Emigrant Society and in this service devoted himself to the care of the Fairbridge Farm School

He sought to serve his God in serving his fellow men
