The monument was erected as a tribute to the Box Hill district pioneers. The stone used was from the remains of the chimney of the home of pioneer settler Arundel Wright.

Who First Settled In Box Hill In 1840.

The Stone Was Presented To The Council
By Mrs M.J. Luke In 1957.
