Harry Blore Memorial Park Print Page Print this page

The Memorial Park is in memory of the many children who died during the period 1880-1920 and will feature a memorial stone and benches carved with the children’s names.

Harry Blore Park has finally been given a serious make-over. When completed next year it will be dedicated to two themes ..... the recognition of the many small children who died in early days of Milparinka with sculptural works by Ian Marr. The second part will be a dark sky park...with virtually no light pollution, Milparinka will be a perfect place to view our amazing night skies. To help facilitate this, three circular platforms have been created, one to hold a sculptural piece by Harrie Fasher depicting the dark sky emu Kalthi, then a smaller platform for astro photographers, and a final site for an interactive planisphere.

Incorporated into the park is also a spiral created using gniess and interconnecting trails linking all of the installations. Bonnie Quayle's sculptural work will sit on the path leading to Kalthi. Garden beds of low shrubbery will complete the picture. The design of the park was developed by recently graduated architect students Paris Perry and Emily Symes.
