The Rehder Centenary Park commemorates the centenary of South Australia in 1936. The gates were were erected as a mark of esteem to Mr. Rehder who generously donated £100 towards the park. The park was officially opened in 1937.
The British Province of South Australia was established by the South Australia Act 1834 in August 1834, and the South Australian Company formed on 9 October 1835 to fulfil the purposes of the Act by forming a new colony financed by land sales. The first settlers arrived on Kangaroo Island in July 1836, with all of the ships later sailing north soon afterwards to anchor in Holdfast Bay on the advice of Surveyor-General, Colonel William Light.
A rodeo, held as Centenary celebrations, was held last Saturday, and it attracted a very large crowd, which was unanimous in its praise of the function. It is expected that the gross takings will be about £190. The committee hope to make a function of this kind an annual fixture. A full report will appear next week. Plans are being obtained for the erection of gates to Rehder Centenary Park. These will be erected as a mark of esteem to Mr. Rehder, who so generously donated £100 towards the park.

Proceeding were opened on Thursday with about 200 old residents being entertained at the reunion luncheon. Also present at the luncheon were the Premier (Mr. Butler), Mr. Dennison, M.P., and Mr. and Mrs. John Dutton of "Anlaby" Kapunda. After the luncheon a very large procession headed by Manoora Brass Band, and decorated vehicles, motor vehicles, and pedestrians proceeded from the hall to the new Rehder Centenary Park, where the Premier presented an inscribed pair of scissors to Mr. Rehder, who cut the ribbon, and declared the park officially open. The procession then paraded around the oval, where the Premier and Mrs. Dutton judged the entries. The Premier being so pleased with the entries, gave several prizes himself. Prizes were awarded to Mr. L. G. Rowett (sea horses), Mr. H. Robins (cottage garden), Mr. H. Parish (sailing ship), with special prizes for Mr. J. Prior (Big Bad Wolf) and Brian Robins (swan white). At the dance in the evening the hall was filled with a large crowd.
