Erected in tribute to the Kingston pioneer women
Especially Janet, wife of Archibald Cooke, (Co-founder of Kingston).
Janet died, aged 42, as a result of fire in her thatch roofed cottage August 1859, one year after her arrival in Kingston.
Erected by ladies of Kingston Evening Branch of Country Women`s Association.
