Shire of Quairading 1979 Sesquicentenary Celebrations Print Page
The memorial commemorates the participation of the Shire in the Western Australia Sesquicentenary celebrations in 1979.
WAY 79 was the official 1979 sesquicentennial (150th anniversary) celebration of the European colonisation of Western Australia. When Charles Court became premier in 1974 the state government took over the planning for the 150th anniversary celebrations. In 1975 the WAY 79 concept was officially launched by the Premier. Many events and celebrations to commemorate the anniversary took place throughout Western Australia during 1979.
