The stone commemorates the pioneers of Palmwoods. It marks the south east portion of land leased by Louis Bamberger in 1874.

To the memory of Palmwoods pioneers

This stone marks S. E. corner Portion 23 (595 acres) first leased by Cobb & Co. groom Louis Bamberger in 1874, then  owned briefly by Frederick Shaw.

The area was known as Merriman`s Flat when Peter & Catharina Kuskopf, 6 sons & a daughter settled here in 1891. 

Their kin, the Momme Bendixens & George Fewtrells took up adjoining lands soon after.
