This stone below, from the Cathedral of St. Thomas of Canterbury at Portsmouth was presented to St. John's Church on October 15, 1988 by the Bishop of Portsmouth, the Rt. Rev. Timothy Bavin, and has been set in local stone to commemorate the arrival of the First Fleet from Portsmouth in 1788
The stone was unveiled on April 16, 1989 by His Excellency Rear Admiral Sir David Martin K.C.M.G., A.O., Governor Of New South Wales
