The plaque commemorates the dedication of the Bi-Centenary Centre in October 1974. The celebrations in 1974 commemorated the discovery of Norfolk Island by Captain James Cook in 1774.

This plaque commemorates the dedication of the Bicentenary Centre during the Bi-Centenary celebrations of the discovery  of Norfolk Island on 10 October 1774 by Captain James Cook, R. N., F.R.S.

Unveiled by Mr W. M. Randall, O.B.E., Chairman of the Captain Cook  Bi-Centenary Celebration`s Committee on 12 October 1974.
