Endeavor Park commemorates the arrival of Captain James Cook off the coast of Merimbula on 21st April 1770 and the visit of the replica Endeavour in 1995.
Captain James Cook claimed the whole of the east coast of Australia for Great Britain on 22 August 1770, naming eastern Australia, 'New South Wales.'
