Police Memorial GardenPrint Page
The garden commemorates police officers who have died or been killed in the line of duty.
About 100 people have gathered at Wagga police station to honour police officers and their fallen comrades. Community members and officers past and present joined in songs and prayers to mark Police Remembrance Day. A bell tolled as the names of fallen officers were read.
Local area commander Superintendent Frank Goodyer laid a wreath and spoke of the risks and trauma officers can face every day. "I've personally seen the impact that the death on duty of an officer has on their colleagues," he said.
Superintendent Goodyer says the memorial garden will be moved to the city's new police station in time for next year's service.
