The fountain commemorates the opening of the Moruya water supply in 1954.
The Department of Public Works was spending £1,000,000 during this financial year on water and sewerage works throughout the State, the Minister for Public Works (Mr. J. B. Renshaw) said at Moruya yesterday. Mr. Renshaw was officially opening the new Moruya Water Supply costing approximately £50,000. Mr. J. G. Beale, M.L.A., for the South Coast, introduced the Minister. The scheme comprises a pumping-station drawing from the Moruya River, about two and a half miles south-west of Moruya town ship. The water is taken by rising main to a 150,000 gallon reinforced concrete service reservoir.
